why should I use QMA ?
- The patient is an athlete and
is much stronger than me. How can can I objectively assess his/her
strength for rehabilitation ?

Quantitative Muscle Assessment "QMA" is a
computer based system that assists you in testing muscle strength and fatigue. The subject or patient
pulls or pushes against a strap that is connected to an adjustable frame. An in-line
force transducer is connected in series with the strap and effort. The
patient/subject may be supine or prone on an electric HIGH/low examination table to
facilitate the strap placement and isolation of the muscle or muscle group to test.
The effort is exerted, and the force transducer creates an electrical impulse (analog
signal). The analog signal is carried to anlog/digital converter
that changes the data to a usable and comprehensible
format. Documentation of the progres of the patient may be produced
in reports that are self populating. The reports compares the
efforts of the patient to previous visits and displays the effort change
of each muscle tested from one visit to another. The report is also
capable of producing an expected amount of effort for each muscle tested,
based on age, gender and BMI of the patient, and compares each muscle
tested to the expected amounts. A complete report (EMR) may be
produced at your requests in moments. Your comments, evaluation and
observations may be entered to complete the report.
Manual Muscle Testing is all that is required, why
should I use QMA... ?
Manual
Muscle Testing (MMT) is the accepted method of evaluating and assessing
the progress of a patient through rehabilitation. A trained
therapist is capable of using MMT to score a patients
strengths/weaknesses, is able to document those efforts in transcribing
that information, is able to reference texts for comparison data, compute
the expected strengths of each muscle, and complete a report on those
findings. OR
-
The same theapist may use
QMA, acquire objective transferrable and repeatable data, that may be
sourced by other therapists if needed, may document the progress of the
patient through therapy, and request a progress report that compares
each muscle tested with prior visits, and computes an expected amount
for each muscle - based on gender, age and BMI of the patient.
NO transcribing, NO extra
paperwork to document the sessions, and NO effort in making a completed
report. More time spent with patients, and less time
spent on paperwork.
You may objectively assess the opposite
extemety of the patient, and rehabilitate the patient accordingly.
From Pop baseball to NFL professionals, force transducers are avilable to
assess 50 to 1000 lbs of effort.
After logging in using your initials or name, check the
lower right of the screen to ascertain the correct protocol. If the protocol is
correct, select file and with a new patient, add the information, or with an
existing patient select view name/screen number and select the proper patient. You
are now ready to begin testing.
The QMA user manual should be available on your
computer. Another copy is on the QMA installation media - CD and on
this website. After opening
MS-Word, and selecting QMA user manual you may wish to scroll through the manual, or
go to EDIT, select find or search and type in a short description of the topic.
Example - "Finish Previous Visit".

Requests for assistance via email or
phone are responded to upon receipt. Support may be made via telephone from 8:00 AM to 6:00
PM EST - Monday through Friday.
QMA support technicians have supported common to critical situations in research testing
for the past eighteen years. Although a sympathizing face may be comforting, the
experience of our support technicians in remedying hardware and/or software difficulties
cannot be duplicated locally. Most problems encountered can be corrected "over
the phone" with email instructions, or a session of RemotePC, ZOOM or
similar local presence to find and correct a software setting. In the unlikely event of a hardware
malfunction, expedited services, including next day delivery may be utilized.
The QMA System is established on exceptional product and support.
